CHEAPER POWER AND ENERGY ABUNDANCE
Under Labor, power prices are far too high.
Bills have skyrocketed by nearly 40 per cent, and nearly a quarter-of-a-million households have been forced onto hardship or payment assistance.
Australian households have spent an extra $23 billion on their energy bills over the last four years.

Coal-fired power plants are being forced out early and consumers are paying billions for blowouts on poles and wires to nowhere that run roughshod over regional communities.
- Electricity bills have increased around 40 per cent under Labor – while emissions have gone backwards.
The Coalition will scrap Net Zero and make Australia an energy superpower.
We should be making the most of our abundant coal and gas to power industry and make Australian manufacturers, farmers, and miners more competitive on the world stage.
Affordability and reliability are more important than unrealistic international climate goals that most countries are struggling or refusing to meet.
Australia should do its fair share to reduce its emissions, but this can’t come at the expense of our economy, our regional communities, and national security.

- Deliver cheaper power and energy abundance.
- Back any technology that can deliver affordable and reliable energy for Australian households and businesses – coal, gas, hydro, nuclear, batteries and renewables in the right places.
- Work with coal-fired power plant owners to keep that generation running as long and hard as possible to get electricity prices down.
- Lift the ban on nuclear power.
- Scrap Labor’s carbon taxes, including the Safeguard Mechanism – a carbon tax on business that is driving industry offshore – and Labor’s Car and Ute Tax.
- Lower emissions as quickly and responsibly as technology allows – without imposing additional costs on families or industry.

RESTORING FUEL SECURITY
When Australia runs out of fuel, our economy grinds to a halt and our national security is put at risk.
Fuel powers almost every part of Australia’s economy – putting food on supermarket shelves, harvesting our crops, operating our essential services, and maintaining our national defence. If fuel stops, Australia stops.
Recent international events have shown how quickly global fuel supply chains can come under pressure.
Yet instead of strengthening sovereign capability, Labor has made Australia more vulnerable: investment in oil and gas has stalled, approvals have become slower and more uncertain, and Labor’s Carbon Tax is imposing extra costs on our remaining refineries – costs that will be passed on to motorists at the bowser.
- Under a Coalition Government, Australia’s reserves of critical fuels will be doubled to 60 days.
We should never have to depend on other countries to keep Australia moving.

The Coalition will strengthen Australia’s fuel security.
- Double Australia’s reserves of critical fuels to 60 days – putting our total fuel stocks within reach of our 90-day stockholding obligation.
- Support more than 1 billion litres of new fuel storage through an $800 million Australian Fuel Security Facility.
- Support new refineries and alternative fuels including biofuels and coal-to-liquid technologies.
- Establish a daily public fuel dashboard, so Australians can see supply levels in real time.
- Scrap Labor’s Safeguard Mechanism – a carbon tax on business – saving refineries and Australian motorists around $165 million by 2029-30.

MAKING AUSTRALIA ENERGY INDEPENDENT
Under Labor, Australia has become more dependent on imported energy to keep our economy moving.
Currently, around 90 per cent of our transport fuel is brought in from overseas, and Australia faces looming gas shortages in a few years time. Labor’s regulatory barriers single out and deliberately slow down gas, coal and oil approvals.
Environmental laws lack any balance between protection and development – they are being weaponised by anti-development activists to lock up, rather than unleash, our critical resources.
And by pushing gas and coal out of the system, Labor’s ideological energy policy is hurting the very industries that fuel, feed and power our nation.
- Australia imports 90 per cent of its liquid fuels and faces gas shortages by 2029.
To power our prosperity and protect our national security, Australia must become energy independent again.
We need to develop our own resources, back our industry, and strengthen our sovereign capability – not rely on supply chains controlled by other countries.
To achieve energy independence, we need more digging, more drilling, and more diesel.
This means more Australian gas for Australians and more Australian oil for Australians – and fewer imported fuels and foreign-made renewables.

- Deliver more Australian gas for Australians through a sensible, balanced prospective reservation policy – guaranteeing meaningful domestic supply, preserving existing contracts, putting downward pressure on prices, and keeping our gas sector strong.
- Unlock new gas through annual offshore acreage releases, development across key basins, and fast-tracked approvals.
- Fast-track key projects – including Queensland’s Taroom Trough and Western Australia’s Browse Basin – as National Strategic Priority Projects, and reverse Labor’s regulatory barriers that single out oil and gas.
- Reinstate the $100 million Junior Minerals Exploration Incentive, including $50 million for oil and gas, to unlock the next wave of discoveries.
- Rebalance environmental laws so they unlock – rather than lock up – our critical resources.
- Make the $7 billion Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility permanent, giving enterprises the certainty to invest in the North.
